On 21 February 2008, Singapore celebrated with fanfare when the International Olympic Committee announced its decision to hold the inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2010 in Singapore. Preparations for Singapore 2010 are on track, with progress in the development of an integrated sport, culture and education programme. To commemorate the countdown to this international multi-sport event on 14 August 2009, this set of stamps portrays the warm welcome from the host city ($1.10), and how Singapore 2010 aims to inspire youths to embrace, embody and express the Olympic values of Excellence (1st local), Friendship (65c) and Respect ($2.00).
